Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our finance team. This paid, on-site position offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in various accounting functions, including bank reconciliations, journal entries, and account reconciliations. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, possess strong analytical skills, and have a passion for accounting. This position reports to the Accounting Manager. This is a paid, temporary role that does not offer insurance, paid holidays or vacation time. This is not a remote role; interns are expected to perform their duties under constant guidance from our location in Perry, FL.
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Hourly Rate: $20.00/Hour
Duration of Role: This is a temporary position lasting for the summer. Estimated duration is May 1st - August 22, 2025. Start & end dates are flexible.
Requirements
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
- Assist in account reconciliations and report discrepancies.
- Support month-end closing processes.
- Collaborate with the finance team on special projects and ad hoc assignments.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls and accounting standards.
- Learn and apply accounting principles to real-world situations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities: - Moderate understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency & experience in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel.
- Experienced in and knowledgeable of GAAP in a school or work setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including talking on the phone.
- Eagerness to take direction and training, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
Education & Experience: - Currently pursuing, or recently completed a degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Strong academic performance and professional behavior.
- Previous related work experience, club memberships or internships a plus, but not required.
Physical Demands: - Must be able to accurately exchange information with customers, co-workers, management, and vendors.
- Occasionally moves files and boxes of records weighing up to 20 lbs.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as copiers, printers, and telephones.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90% of the time.
- Normal office hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Interns must work between 24 - 27 hours per week but may flex their schedule within normal office hours.
