Joe Machens Volkswagen is looking for a Business Development Center (BDC) Agent / Receptionist —a key player in our dealership's success. This is a hybrid role , meaning you'll primarily focus on customer engagement and appointment setting but also handle light receptionist and office management duties. What's the Job?
This isn't your typical “call center” or “receptionist” job. As a BDC Agent / Receptionist , you'll be the first point of contact for many of our customers, handling both sales-related lead follow-ups and minimal office management tasks to keep the dealership running smoothly.
Here's what you'll be doing:
BDC Responsibilities:
✅ Following up with customers who have inquired about a vehicle—whether online, over the phone, or in person. Your goal? Keep them engaged and set them up with an appointment to visit the dealership.✅ Working with inbound leads from phone calls, internet inquiries, and showroom visits—guiding customers to the next step in their car-buying journey.✅ Reaching out to past customers —checking in and helping them find their next vehicle. Many of our past buyers are ready to trade up, and you'll be there to make it happen.✅ Assisting the sales team by scheduling and confirming appointments.✅ Tracking and managing customer interactions in our CRM system to ensure no lead is left behind.
Reception & Office Management Responsibilities:
Minimal receptionist duties —our advanced phone system handles most calls, but you'll assist with occasional customer inquiries. Supply orders —managing office essentials to keep the dealership stocked. Stocking in new vehicles —helping process new arrivals from Volkswagen into our system. Basic office management —keeping things organized and running smoothly behind the scenes.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
✅ Previous BDC/Dealership experience
✅ Strong communication skills —you know how to engage and keep a conversation going.✅ Comfortable making outbound calls —you're not afraid to pick up the phone.✅ Tech-savvy —comfortable using CRM systems, email, and basic office software (training provided).✅ Customer-focused mindset —you genuinely want to help people and provide great service.✅ Ability to multitask —balancing BDC responsibilities with light receptionist tasks.✅ Self-motivated and goal-driven —you take initiative and like hitting targets.✅ Previous experience in customer service, sales, administrative work, or automotive is a plus (but not required!).
